Stress Management!

 Hi all!

We live in an age where it is too easy to feel stressed.

                                     OfComm Series - Collapsed

What is more important is to understand how stress works, and how to deal with it. Today let us discuss about 'stress' and the ways to reduce it.

It can be illustrated by an example:

Suppose I have a glass of water...

                                                          water glass

Now, I ask you to hold it and let me know the weight. You would find it easy and you could tell me that it weighs about 300 gms or something like that.

What you must remember is that it is its relative weight.

If I ask you to keep holding the glass for 10-15 minutes at a stretch, you will surely feel as if the glass weighs a ton!

That is exactly what stress does. If you keep holding everything in your heart- accumulating it, storing it, the pressure will rise steadily.

Initially you may not feel it, but with the passage of time you will feel the stress.

I recommend two techniques to get rid of stress -

1. The principle of 'letting go'

Don't allow things to unnecessarily bother you. There are so many things that you keep holding with a tight grip. Sometimes it is better if you can just let them go, and you will gain happiness. There are times when we enter into a really silly debate or an argument about who is the best player, or the best actor, etc. These things are all unnecessary. You can 'agree to disagree' and not take things to heart!

Do not insist on proving your point. Make your point, place the facts, and move on....

(Remember that everyone has their own opinion - and that is normal)

2. Cut the stress at the source

Suppose you have a habit of forgetting the payment dates. Due to this, many a times your bills go unpaid or you have to pay the late fee.

Man is shopping online with laptop

You should then set up some reminder that will alert you well before time/before the due date, and you will then not be in any stress at all.

Make good use of the technology and set reminders - use the cell phone, keep a small pocket diary ...whatever works for you!

Even the students can implement this technique.

So often they procrastinate- thinking they have lot of time at hand. Then, one fine day they realize that the exams are fast approaching and they haven't finished their revision.

Result - Stress.

If they plan properly, they would not be in stress. Therefore 'planning' is important!

It is rightly said that - "Failing to plan is planning to fail!"

Hope this added value!
